How it all started...
First Methodist Church began in 1873 as a part of the Pollard "Circuit" (a Circuit Rider used to come through Brewton to preach). The first resident Pastor, Rev. B.C. Glenn, started in 1883. From the humble beginnings of a small wooden Church to a more gothic-style Church to the current building, our Church has grown over the 150+ years of serving the Kingdom of God in lower Alabama. First Methodist Church is now a part of the Global Methodist Church Alabama-Emerald Coast Conference.

Expanding the vision...
First Methodist Church has a passion for expanding God's loving footprint upon the world. Like John Wesley who founded the "Methodist Movement" we believe the "world is our parish." So we endeavor to reach all ages, all races, and all people.
At First Methodist Church we believe in the understanding that the church is "family." We treat everyone with respect and dignity.

Where we are headed...
We believe God is still writing His story. His story is our history and He is the Grand Author of our Future. God is doing marvelous and amazing things at First Methodist Church. If you have not yet found a Church, then consider being a part of our "family."

Be a part of our story...
Join us every Sunday as we gather to worship together at 10:30 a.m.
